By merging the units, the residence will span 8,315 square feet
The owner of the Quarry Springs community in Bethesda has sold two adjoining condominiums to a single buyer for $6.25 million, billing the transaction as the largest by square footage that the D.C. region has seen in the past decade.
The purchaser plans to merge the two units into one home that encompasses 8,315 square feet, or half the entire top floor of a condo building at 8111 River Road, according to a news release. That’s the most square footage sold in a single condo transaction in the past 10 years across the area, the release stated.
Quarry Springs is an “estate” condo community developed by 1788 Holdings LLC. The 13-acre site on River Road includes two buildings that have a combined total of 50 units, which range in size from 2,200 to 4,500 square feet. So far, 34 of those units have been sold. Residents began moving into the community at 8101 River Road in late September 2015.
The recently purchased units offer a view of the Cabin John Stream Valley and boast five bedrooms with in-suite marble baths, 10-foot ceilings and a “separate staff quarters,” according to the release.
An executive with 1788 Holdings said in a prepared statement that Quarry Springs appeals to residents who are not ready to downsize but are looking for alternatives to a single-family home in suburbia.
“This sales price reflects the tremendous value that has been generated within the community to the benefit of current residents, and demonstrates the momentum that continues to exist among prospective home buyers,” Larry J. Goodwin, the company’s principal, said in the statement.
